Solomon Sentenced to 30 Years for Attempted Second Degree Murder with a Weapon

The Office of State Attorney Glenn Hess announces that on Wednesday, July 17, 2019, the Honorable Judge Patterson sentenced Samuel Leo Ricky Solomon to 30 years in prison.  Solomon was convicted at trial of Attempted Second Degree Murder with a Weapon on June 20, 2019.  In January 2019, Mr. Solomon made an unprovoked attack on the mother of his children where he stabbed her multiple times in the chest.  Mr. Solomon was stopped by two Good Samaritans who heard the victim screaming.  Mr. Solomon has over 10 felony convictions, including prior convictions for violence against the same victim and against law enforcement.

The case was investigated by the Springfield Police Department and prosecuted by Assistant State Attorneys Alexis Sykes and Nichole Pieper.
