Joshua Gaskey Sentenced to Two Consecutive Terms of Life in Prison

Press Release

The Office of State Attorney Glenn Hess announced that:

On July 7, 2017, Circuit Judge Chris Patterson sentenced Joshua Brandyn Gaskey to two consecutive Life in Prison terms without the possibility of parole.   Just last week, a Holmes County jury found Gaskey guilty as charged of two counts of first degree murder, robbery with a firearm and armed burglary.   During the week long trial, Assistant State Attorneys Brandon Young and Larry Basford presented evidence that Gaskey killed Sheley Glenn Brooks and his wife, Jacqulyn Brooks in their home located in the Ponce De Leon community in order to obtain Mrs. Brooks’ prescription medication.  The State Attorney’s Office had sought the death penalty for the double homicide, but during the penalty phase the jury returned a verdict for life.  The case was investigated by the Holmes County Sheriff’s Department with the assistance of the Florida Department of Law Enforcement.
